KickStart for Kids Teams Up With SkyCity for Annual Period Poverty Fundraiser

KickStart for Kids has joined forces with SkyCity Adelaide to host their Annual Period Poverty
Fundraiser on Friday 24 May from 12:30pm – 3:30pm at Sol Rooftop and tickets are expected to sell
out fast!

The KickStart for Kids Against Period Poverty program was launched in 2021 in pursuit of raising
awareness, support, and funds for the thousands of young South Australian girls experiencing period
poverty.

Having grown rapidly since its launch, the program now provides over 1200 packs of sanitary items
to over 200 local and regional schools every month, with demand continuing to increase.

Last year KickStart for Kids introduced the inaugural Period Poverty Fundraiser which is set to
become a signature event to help keep the program running.

This year, the not-for-profit organisation has joined forces with SkyCity Adelaide who are generously
hosting the event at Sol Rooftop, an elegant venue which champions Adelaide’s best views.

The event will be emceed by media personality, Bec Morse, as well as influencer and period poverty
advocate, Jenna With The Pink, both of whom are KickStart for Kids ambassadors.

Bec said, “It’s hard to comprehend that girls here in South Australia have to miss days of school
when they have their period because they can’t afford pads and tampons.”

“Kickstart for Kids has done an incredible job eradicating this problem in 200 schools, but to
continue to grow this number is expensive, so we need to keep raising funds to help as best we can.”

Jenna said, “So many people don’t realise the prevalence of period poverty in our state, so this event
is so important to also raise awareness as best we can.”

“We’ve got some amazing entertainment and speakers lined up for the fundraiser, so not only will it
be a super fun Friday afternoon, but it will also be honest, meaningful and educational,” she said.

The event will feature fabulous entertainment including a fashion parade showcasing two well-renowned South Australian labels, Sunset Lover and Couture Love Madness, in addition to live
music, a musical performance from ambassador Jenna, and a silent auction with a number of unique
items and experiences on offer.

Additionally, guests will be moved by inspiring speakers including KickStart for Kids founder Ian Steel
who will speak on his journey with KickStart for Kids, and how he came to launching KickStart for
Kids Against Period Poverty.

Avril Baynes, SkyCity Adelaide General Manager of Hospitality, said “KickStart for Kids give so much
to our great state, and we are proud to support them in this capacity to ensure one hundred percent
of profits raised at this event go directly to the cause.”

“Sol Rooftop is the perfect venue for this event, and we are certain it will be an elevated an
entertaining Friday afternoon enjoying Adelaide’s best views,” she said.

KickStart for Kids Founder, Ian Steel, said this event holds great importance not only in raising funds,
but also in raising awareness of this huge issue in our state which he has spent many years at the
coalface of.

“We strongly encourage colleagues, friends and families to come together and get behind this
extremely important cause, it’s the best excuse to enjoy a Friday arvo in the city,” concluded Ian.

Tickets to the event will include a 3-hour drinks package and canapes from Sol’s stellar restaurant,
and one hundred percent of proceeds from the event will go to the cause. Please keep in mind
tickets are limited and selling fast.

KickStart for Kids is also calling on businesses to come forward with silent auction donations. Please
get in touch with belinda@bpublicrelations.com.au if this is something you can assist with.
