Lalla Nugent

Lalla Nugent is a young professional passionate about advancing educational equity, gender equality, and First Nations justice. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy and Politics in 2023 and is currently a Quality Assurance Analyst at The Smith Family.

Lalla is pursuing a Master of Media Practice at the University of Sydney, aiming to deepen her knowledge of journalism, communication, and political public relations.

In 2023, Lalla led the creation and implementation of Bird in Hand Winery’s inaugural Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). At The Smith Family, she continues her advocacy as an active member of the Reconciliation Action Plan Working Group and the RAP Reporting Group, contributing to meaningful staff engagement with reconciliation initiatives.

While studying in 2022 and 2023, Lalla produced prize-winning research reports for Domestic Violence NSW and the Australian Red Cross through the Sydney Policy Reform Project. Her research addressed the misidentification of primary perpetrators in domestic violence cases and operational models for cross-border collaboration on humanitarian action.

Lalla is currently undertaking the first NSW Young Greens Campaigning and Organising Fellowship, further enhancing her skills in advocacy and community organising. Additionally, she serves as the Scholarship Officer and Board Observer for Inspire Tomorrow Education, a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing free tutoring and scholarship support for tertiary admission for disadvantaged students in Australia.

Having grown up in Adelaide with the life-changing privilege of attending Scotch College, Lalla shares Kickstart for Kids’ belief, that education is power and that the playing field must be levelled.
