A Decade of Support: How Thomas Foods International Helps KickStart For Kids Reach Children Across South Australia
Working with Thomas Foods International for almost ten years has been one of the greatest privileges for everyone at KickStart For Kids. What started as a major sponsorship has grown into a relationship that feels more like family. Thomas Foods is known around the world as a leading food producer, but for us they are something much more. They are a partner who shows up for South Australian kids week after week.
Thomas Foods was founded in 1988 and is still proudly family owned. Their reputation has always been built on quality food, strong values, and looking after the people they serve. That commitment carries through to the way they support our programs.
Support That Reaches Far Beyond Donations
Thomas Foods does not just contribute financially. Through one of their subsidiaries, they help transport KickStart products to regional and remote areas. This includes schools across Coober Pedy, the Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula, and the Riverland. These deliveries make a real difference for schools that do not have easy access to supplies. It helps ensure that no matter how far a child lives from the city, they can still start their day with a healthy breakfast.
These are the things most people never see, but they are the reason so many children can learn with confidence each morning.
Why Thomas Foods Believes in KickStart For Kids
Owner and Managing Director, Darren Thomas, has always had a strong personal connection to our mission. When he speaks about KickStart, he brings the conversation back to the kids.
“It resonated really close to me because you look at these kids and we all know how resilient they can be,” Darren said.
“When you observe these children, all they need is a chance. That is what KickStart For Kids is giving them.”
Darren also speaks proudly about the Thomas Foods team members who help deliver products to schools.
“I know my team care about it. The guys who do the deliveries, it means a lot to them. It is the least we can do.”
When asked why he has stayed involved for so many years, Darren explained that his motivation comes from knowing what a difference support can make.
“I talk about growing up tough, but I never did it alone. I had two loving parents. If we can be that extra bit of support for these kids, it shows them that people care,” he said.
His honesty says everything about why this partnership works. It is built on care for children who deserve more than what life has given them so far.
