Credit Union SA Donates Over 100 Laptops to Support South Australian Students

Credit Union SA has donated 104 laptops to KickStart for Kids, helping ensure disadvantaged South Australian students have the technology they need to participate in their education.

The laptops will be distributed to children supported by KickStart for Kids, providing access to essential learning tools that many students do not have at home, but now rely on daily at school. The donation from Credit Union SA will help ensure students can engage fully in their education, regardless of their circumstances at home.

Many of the children supported by KickStart for Kids face challenges outside the classroom that can impact their ability to learn. Limited access to technology is one of those barriers. Without a laptop at home, students may struggle to complete assignments, fall behind in class, or feel excluded from activities that rely on online access.

By donating laptops, businesses like Credit Union SA are helping to level the playing field. Access to a device can support confidence, independence and engagement, giving students the opportunity to learn, keep up with school expectations and build skills that are critical for their future.

KickStart for Kids Founder Ian Steel OAM said the donation will make a tangible difference for children who need it most. “Access to technology plays a huge role in education today. These laptops will help ensure children are not left behind simply because of their circumstances. We are incredibly grateful to Credit Union SA for recognising this need and stepping in to support South Australian kids.”

The laptop donation program is part of KickStart for Kids’ broader commitment to supporting children beyond the classroom basics.

Alongside school breakfast and lunch programs, mentoring, holiday care and wellbeing support, access to technology helps address the practical challenges that can stand in the way of learning.

KickStart for Kids welcomes conversations with other businesses who may be able to support this initiative through laptop or technology donations. Corporate donations of devices can make a direct and lasting impact, helping children access education on equal footing with their peers.

Businesses interested in donating laptops or learning more about how to support this program are encouraged to contact KickStart for Kids directly via email at ian@kickstartforkids.com.au

To ensure devices meet students’ learning needs, donated laptops are required to be no more than 18 months old, with a minimum contribution of 20 devices per donation.

Together, with the support of community-minded partners, KickStart for Kids can continue to ensure every child has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
