KickStart For Kids and SkyCity Annual Period Poverty Fundraiser
KickStart for Kids has joined forces with SkyCity Adelaide to host their highly anticipated Annual Period Poverty Fundraiser at the stunning Sol Rooftop venue.
The KickStart for Kids Against Period Poverty program launched in 2021 to raise awareness, support, and funds for thousands of young South Australian girls facing period poverty. The initiative addresses a critical but often overlooked issue affecting educational outcomes for young women across the state.
The program now delivers more than 1,200 packs of sanitary items monthly to over 200 schools across South Australia, with demand continuing to rise. Each pack contains essential menstrual products that allow young women to attend school with dignity and confidence during their periods.
Media personality and KickStart for Kids ambassador Bec Morse will return as emcee for this signature event.
“The reality is that many girls in South Australia miss school simply because they can’t afford basic products such as pads and tampons,” says Morse. “The work KickStart for Kids is doing is vital, but we need continued support to reach more schools.”
This year’s fundraiser represents a significant opportunity to expand the program’s reach while raising broader community awareness about period poverty.
Port Adelaide Football Club AFLW star and KickStart ambassador Matilda Scholz is passionate about using her platform to create change. “It’s #AboutBloodyTime we put a stop to Period Poverty in SA,” says Scholz. “No young woman should miss out on education or sports because of period products.”
The fundraiser will feature a fashion parade by Melanie Flintoft’s Couture Love Madness and Crestwell Brands, inspiring speakers, live music, and a silent auction.
Speaking about the importance of raising awareness, KickStart ambassador Jenna with the Pink explains, “Many people don’t realise how widespread period poverty is in our state. This event creates important conversations while supporting a critical cause.”
Reflecting on the program’s impact, KickStart for Kids Founder Ian Steel shares his vision for the fundraiser: “This event is crucial to our mission of supporting young women across South Australia. It’s a chance to make a real difference while enjoying a fantastic afternoon.”
“We’re thrilled of the support of SkyCity who with their generous partnership ensure one hundred per cent of profits raised go directly to the cause and Sol Rooftop provides the perfect setting for this important community event.”
This year’s event will be held on Friday, 30 May from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Sol Rooftop. Tickets include a 3-hour drinks package and canapes, with 100% of proceeds going to the cause. Attendees are encouraged to gather friends for a fun Friday afternoon, enjoying fabulous entertainment while supporting an incredibly worthwhile cause. Tickets are limited and expected to sell quickly.
