KickStart for Kids No Breakfast, Breakfast Returns this December to Help Fight Child Hunger in SA

Kickstart for Kids annual ‘No Breakfast, Breakfast’ is returning on Friday 13 December at the Hilton Hotel. Serving nothing but food for thought, the fundraising event provides guests the opportunity to experience what it is like for thousands of South Australian school kids who go to school without breakfast.

KickStart for Kids is a South Australian not-for-profit organisation that provides a school breakfast program for underprivileged children who often start their day on an empty stomach. The program currently serves around 60,000 breakfasts per week in over 360 South Australian schools, including those in the North, West, South and several regional areas.

The organisation also runs Camp KickStart, a school holiday camp for underprivileged kids, their KickStart for Kids Against Period Poverty program which distributes sanitary items to over 150 South Australian schools weekly, as well as their Future Pathways mentoring program.

Ian Steel, founder of KickStart for Kids, shares just how important the No Breakfast, Breakfast event is and the impact it has on the success of the other programs that are run throughout the year.

“No Breakfast, Breakfast is one of our signature annual fundraising events that allows us to highlight the reality for so many children across South Australia.

“We are calling on the Adelaide community, particularly those who start out their day in the CBD, to join us in support of this incredibly worthwhile cause,” Ian said.

Following the event, which will be MC’d by media personality and KickStart ambassador, Rebecca Morse, guests may choose to indulge in breakfast or continue their day on an empty stomach to truly understand the impact on both mental and physical strength. Either way, the privilege of breakfast is both acknowledged and guests are sure to find a newfound appreciation.

“Most people don’t realise how lucky they are to wake up in the morning and thoughtlessly and effortlessly choose what they want for breakfast from a full fridge or pantry.

“No Breakfast, Breakfast puts things into perspective and gives our guests the opportunity to understand their privilege, giving them a new lease of gratitude to take away with them and share with others,” Ian continued.

Tickets are available to purchase online, with $70 for one adult or $650 for a table of 10, with all proceeds going towards purchasing breakfast items for the KickStart for Kids Breakfast Program.
